To encourage people to go visit the weirder side of Portland, we collaborated with one of Portland’s best-known bands, Ages & Ages. They wrote a tune about Odnarotoop (Portland backwards in Japanese), had it translated, and sang it in Japanese. We then made a Giff-style music video that starred a furry blue monster named the Odnarodude.
We then printed the song on Vinyl and created bespoke influencer kits, created travel brochures in the same style, and made a VR experience which involved wearing a giant Odnoradude helmet.
The Odnarodude is now a popular character in Japan, appearing in magazines and various events. He even has his own Wikipedia page.
